Agra

Agra is a city located in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh in India. It is home to one of the most iconic and beautiful monuments in the world - the Taj Mahal. This marble mausoleum was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Apart from the Taj Mahal, Agra also boasts of other historical monuments such as the Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. The Agra Fort, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in the 16th century and is a fine example of Mughal architecture. Fatehpur Sikri, located on the outskirts of Agra, was the capital of the Mughal Empire for a brief period before it was abandoned.

The city is also famous for its cuisine, especially its Mughlai cuisine which is a blend of Indian and Persian flavors. Some of the popular dishes include biryani, kebabs, and mughlai paratha.

Agra is a bustling city with a rich cultural heritage and is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history and architecture. It can be visited as a day trip from Delhi or as part of a longer itinerary covering other parts of Uttar Pradesh such as Varanasi and Lucknow. However, it is recommended to plan your visit during the cooler months between November and March to avoid the scorching heat of the summer.
